About
My name's Richard Campbell. I also go by Richie or Dick. On the internet, I frequently go by the tag "Exararcian." I even have a Let's Play channel on the right-hand side there.
I mention that Let's Play channel because it's the longest project I've ever maintained, and that got me thinking about how I've yet to really manage that with my writing. It's a sort spot I've hoped to rectify. This is my attempt at that.
I plan on releasing a story episodically, at least starting on a once-a-week basis. I have one story in mind that's already got a good start on it, but I may not stick with just that. I'm publishing them online, for free, in hopes of getting an audience and simply putting my writing out there. I love it when people read what I write, simply enough. Money is nice, but it's a secondary concern to actually practicing my "craft" and getting people interested in it. But that's a concern for another time.
For now, I hope you'll indulge me in reading what I write. The first story will be a Fantasy Fiction story that, for now, will be called "Valor." I'll reveal that much. Though I have plans for it, it's not finished. That's one thing I'll make clear; though I'll be putting up what I hope will be more-or-less finished products, this story will definitely be a Work-In-Progress. So bear with me on any changes. Even the title may change. If you have any constructive criticism, feel free to also sound out on it.
As for future projects, who knows? I don't plan on sticking with just fantasy, though. Fiction, Science Fiction, or even Nonfiction are all things I've written in the past. There's also some crossover stuff that I'll want to do with my Let's Play, but that will get its own place.
The name of the site, Thousand Faces, is my own belief that people put on many faces through their lives, and this is especially true of writers. How I act around my family is different from how I act with my friends. The same is true for how I interact with my Let's Play audience, and how I plan on acting here. As a writer, you have to learn how to distill parts of yourself (and others!) into entirely new people, imaginary though they may be. It's all these things combined that kind of inspire the name.
With all that in mind, I hope you enjoy Thousand Faces.
